40

Forty (40) in the Bible seems to be a time of probation. A time to prove that one is ready for the next task or part of their lives.

Saturday, November 02, 2019

Point to study:

Time of Noah the rain fell for 40 days.
Moses spent 40 days on Mount Sinai twice.
Israelites spent 40 years in the wilderness.
Nineveh was given 40 days to repent.
Elijah spent 40 days in the wilderness.
Christ spent 40 days in the wilderness.

What is the significance of the number 40 in the Bible?

Union with Christ (My Notes from podcast)

We enter into union with Christ by grace through faith. He becomes the source of our life, strength & blessedness.

Important words: in Him (Christ), with Him(Christ), through Him(Christ), into Him(Christ)

We identify, participate & are incorporated into & with Christ’s life, death, resurrection, ascension & heavenly session

We are united (knitted)  with Christ in every aspect of His life.

He obeyed perfectly on our behalf
In death He fully paid the price for the penalty of our sin
In resurrection He triumphed over death & the grave
In the ascension is in the very presents of the Father
In heavenly session we are knitted with Him in the on going work at the right hand of the Father (participants in God’s mission to the world)

We were in Christ from the beginning and became co- participants at the moment of His incarnation

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,

even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love

he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,

Eph 1:6
to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

Eph 1:7
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

Eph 1:8
which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight

Eph 1:9
making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ

Eph 1:10
as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

Application

Ask yourself and pray about each of these questions ?

How should it change me?
• Consider how what the passage teaches about God should change the way you think, speak or act.
• Make meaningful connections to your own life experiences or the experiences of those you teach.
• Is there a Sin to confess?
• Is there a Promise to claim?
• Is there an Attitude to change?
• Is there a Command to obey?
• Is there an Example to follow?
• Is there a Prayer to pray?
• Is there an Error to avoid?
• Is there a Truth to believe?
• Is there Something for which to praise God?
